Last week, Synovate published survey results showing just how attached Americans are to their cell phones.
And how attached is that, you ask?
According to the survey, 82 percent of Americans NEVER leave home without their cell phone. (In some cases, that’s cell phones – because 33 percent of Americans report that they have two or more phones.)
If you’re keeping score, that’s nearly 200 million people walking around with a cell phone – or two! – in their pocket or purse. And 42 percent of American’s “could not live without their cell phone,” according to Synovate.
With 200 million people to engage directly, and such passion on the part of consumers, it’s no wonder mobile marketing just keeps growing, with more and more brands adding mobile calls to action to print, TV, and radio buys, as well as interactive and social media ads.
Simply put, mobile is the best, smartest, and most direct way to engage customers with coupons and other brand communications.
As Mobile Marketer reported recently, print coupons have a one percent or less redemption rate for an obvious reason: when people go to the store, many of them, in fact most of them, are going to forget to bring coupons along.
But four out of five of them will most certainly be bringing their cell phones.
Where would you rather put your marketing dollars?
